App Store Optimization keyword research finds the search terms people type into the App Store and Google Play, how often they are searched (popularity) and how hard it is to rank for them (difficulty). You then put the best terms in your title, subtitle and keyword field (App Store) or title and description (Google Play).
Popularity is a 5–100 score on the same scale as Apple’s Search Ads popularity. Where we have Apple’s own value we use it; otherwise we estimate it from the store’s search suggestions (how short a prefix brings the term up, and how high). Use it to compare terms with each other; it is not a monthly search count.
Difficulty (0–100) estimates how hard it is to reach the top results for a term, from the 10 apps ranking there now: how many ratings they have, their average rating, how many carry the term in their title or subtitle, how many come from very large developers and how many were updated recently. Under 30 is realistic for a new app.
Yes. Look up terms here without an account. A free AppGoat account tracks your keywords daily, finds the terms your competitors rank for, and lets your AI agent rewrite your metadata around them.
